Community
Mental Health Management
BHM Services is a leader in the management of behavioral
health programs. The same level of care and service that has
gone into the other behavioral programs we manage can be applied
to your county's community mental health program. Some of
the developments your county can expect from BHM are:
- Local management integrated with and accountable to
your county's designated program management personnel.
- Immediate 24 hour and seven days per week
responsiveness from the BHM Program Manager and corporate
staff.
- Creative, high quality, cost-effective treatment
services for the county's Department of Mental Health
consumers.
- A team of dedicated professional and cooperative
staff.
- Active involvement of BHM in county community
activities.
- Comprehensive programs of quality assurance, including
staff development and performance, clinical appropriateness of
treatment, consumer education, risk management, and client
satisfaction.
- A healthy partnership and open communication with BHM
corporate and local management.
Additionally, we understand that the responsibility for
managing the county's community mental health program would not
end with just the provision of staff.
It also requires significant participation with the County
in the design, development and implementation of clinical service
delivery systems, as well as monitoring systems to ensure the
quality of the service. In this capacity, we recognize our
responsibility to deliver a wide variety of services including:
- Staffing of mental health and physical health
positions;
- Assessment, evaluation, and triage of clients;
- Individual, group, and family counseling;
- Psychological testing and evaluation;
- Program management;
- Medication management and administration;
- Nursing services
Throughout our history we have provided the organizational
resources, management systems, and staff for all kinds of clients
to offer high quality mental health services to clients and
constituents. We have adapted our resources to meet
changing needs. While our focus has evolved from purely
inpatient services through a broad range of provider settings, we
have consistently built and sustained strong corporate support and
commitment to providing high quality services. This support
includes all of the core functions necessary to fulfill any
contract.
Correctional
Mental Health Management
BHM Corrections is a national
specialist in providing on-site mental health services to
correctional systems, including state and local prison, jails and
juvenile detention centers. We serve over numerous
correctional facilities, covering thousands of inmates. Throughout
our network of contracts, we treat individuals who are entering
the criminal justice system and have immediate mental health
needs, as well as inmates who are in the general corrections
population and need emergency treatment, outpatient services,
crisis stabilization, or acute patient care. We have proven our
capacity to innovate, to focus services on inmate/patient needs,
and to improve the quality and responsiveness of special acute and
crisis stabilization units within the criminal justice and
corrections settings.
From program design to quality assurance, BHM shoulders the
burden of all your mental health care objectives-freeing you to
focus on other tasks. Our core services include:
- On-site staffing and nationwide recruitment
- Custom program design and management
- Medication management
- Consultation
- Utilization review and management
BHM will tailor any of these services to address the mental
health care needs of your system. If specific treatment
mandates exist, we'll develop protocols to make sure you meet the
requirements.
Medication Management: Controlling the Cost of Care
One of the best ways BHM can help your system is by
controlling the cost of care through medication management.
In the past few years, the overall costs of mental health care
have soared-due primarily to the emergence of new, expensive
psychotropic medications. Clinicians tend to favor these
newer drugs over conventional, less expensive ones, even though
conventional medications will often achieve the equivalent
outcome.
Residential
Group Home Management
BHM Residential manages group homes providing 24-hour
services in licensed, non-secure facilities.
BHM provides a community-based therapeutic group home
designed for residents with significant deficits in independent
living skills. BHM offers a less restrictive treatment environment
than a secure residential treatment center but more restrictive
than day treatment or outpatient services. Our comprehensive
services focus on rehabilitation and include multidisciplinary and
multimodal therapies to fit the needs of the resident.
Medical and nursing services are generally available on a
consultative basis. Typically, coordinated treatment services
include individual, group, and family counseling, rehabilitation,
vocational training, and skill building. Residents may go into the
community for work, school, and/or outside activities. Community
resources are used in a planned, purposeful, and therapeutic
manner that encourages residents' autonomy.
